eReaders using E Ink EPDs have a contrast ratio similar to that of a paperback book, with 16 levels of grey scale for sharp rendering of images. E Ink products are easily readable even in direct sunlight as they are reflective displays – just like ordinary ink on paper. The bi-stability of E Ink means that power is only used to update an update, not to maintain it, giving products extraordinary battery life.
