New York, New York. (November 10, 2015) – – E Ink® Holdings, "E Ink" (8069.TW), the leading innovator of electronic ink technology in the world, is proud to have been named as a CES 2106 Innovation Award Honoree for the Joan Meeting Room Assistant by Visionect, one of its close development partners. Joan was selected in the Eco-Design and Sustainable Technologies product category. The selection recognizes the value delivered by Joan’s system design and integration, yet doing so in a way that significantly reduces the impact on the environment.
Visionect’s expertise in product design and designing with E Ink’s ultra-low power displays shows that eco-friendly products can still deliver leading edge functionality.
Joan, Meeting Room Assistant is an eco-designed digital door label and meeting room scheduling solution with an interactive touch interface. It has been designed from the bottom up for labeling and managing meeting rooms, which results in out-of-the-box support for standard office calendars; that is, Office 365, Exchange or Google Apps with Joan’s green, battery saving mode.
Office equipment is the fastest growing energy user in the business world, consuming 15% of total electricity use in offices. This figure expected to double by 2020, as reported by Carbon Trust. Meeting room door signs are no exception.
“Unlike the LCD-based room labelling solutions, ePaper running on the Visionect Platform features minimal power consumption, about only 1% of that of an LCD, resulting in extreme energy savings when using Joan,” explained Matej Zalar, CEO of the company Visionect, the developer of the energy saving digital meeting room label.
“E Ink’s ePaper displays consume very little power to switch an image, and zero power to retain the image, making it one of the lowest power digital displays in the world,” said Harit Doshi, head of the Signage Business Unit for E Ink. “Joan is an a excellent example of a product design that is enabled by E Ink’s key feature of low power, light weight and highly readable displays; which is at the core of what is possible in office products and many other signage applications.”
Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 27 product categories. Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.
The Joan conference room system will be displayed at CES 2016, which runs January 6-9, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. A selection of Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled New York, which features dozens of exhibitors and networking opportunities and runs 4:30-7:30 PM November 10 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York.
