Terrada Music Score Co., Ltd. Develops World’s First “Dual-Screen E-Paper Music Score Device” Bringing A Revolution to Music Scene
What is GVIDO?
The name “GVIDO” was given as a mark of respect to Guido d’Arezzo, who devised the foundations of staff notation in the early 11th century.
Electronic music score device
By utilizing a 13.3-inch “Mobius” flexible electronic paper display produced by E Ink Corporation, the Electronic Music Score Device developed here has achieved thinness, light weight and almost the same size as a paper music score (the prototype’s size: 480mm wide, 310mm long and 5.9mm thick when opened and weighing approx. 650g) despite using large dual displays. It supports a long-period of use, benefitting from the effect of the low power consumption of electronic paper. Furthermore, both displays include a Wacom pen interface with an accompanying pen to directly annotate on music scores as if they were paper.
The PDF file format is supported and can be saved along with both handwriting and bookmarks. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions embedded, it will enable music scores to be purchased from electronic music score companies in the future, and a variety of accessories can also be connected. Additionally, it is equipped with a Micro-SD card slot along with the internal memory, a large quantity of music scores can be carried.
A Variety of Usages Considered with the Aim of Realizing an Electronic Music Score Device
Looking forward, through practical experiments of the Electronic Music Score Device, we will verify that it will be a user-friendly product, and consider a variety of uses by collaborating with individuals and companies involved in music as well as music universities and orchestras.
